Welcome to Yours Truly, Clare — A New Chapter

Hi, and welcome to Yours Truly, Clare.

Guys, I’m finally doing it; I’m starting a blog.

Now before I get into what this blog is going to be about, first you need to know a little bit about who I am. So, we’ll start simple. My name is Clare, I turn 23 this May 16th (which makes me a Taurus — arguably the best sign), I’m a native Oregonian, and I’m going to school at Oregon State for design management with a minor in writing. I’m a “type 2” according to the Enneagram test, and a Campaigner (ENFP-T) according to the Myers Briggs test. You can always find me wearing hoop earrings, I’m almost always wearing Nike Air Max Theas (see the picture above), my favorite artist is John Mayer, I have a *slight* coffee obsession, and my two cats are basically my favorite things on Earth.

I think it’s also important to note that I’m organized, driven, passionate about a lot, and I cherish relationships more than anything, especially my relationship with Jesus. I’ve been a Christian my whole life, a Young Life leader for almost four years (#ythelnot), and see ministry being apart of my life in some aspect forever . (The verse I try to live by is 2 Corinthians 5:7 – “for we live by faith, not by sight.”)

Okay, moving forward this three-fold story might seem random at first, but stay with me. When I was in the eight grade I tried out for the school’s talent show, and sang “Butterfly Fly Away” from the Hannah Montana movie (LOL). Now, I’m not a bad singer, but I’m not great (or even good), but I still got up on stage and gave it my all.

Fast-forward to my freshman year of high school. That’s when I started my YouTube channel. I still remember sitting on my bed, filming my first video with a red Sony camcorder. I made beauty and fashion videos until the end of my senior year, and made it to 1,000+ subscribers. Was my channel and content the best out there? Absolutely not. I still kept to it though, and didn’t let the fact that I felt I wasn’t the best, or even just good enough stop me from making videos. (Fun fact: I was voted “most likely to get a million views on YouTube” my senior year.)

Then, four years ago I started my blog. Now you’re probably thinking, “didn’t you just start it?” Yes and no. I first started Yours Truly, Clare back in 2016. I created the website, wrote a few posts, and then just kind of stopped writing. Now this is going to come full-circle at the end of this post, just you wait. I started it because just like with the talent show and my YouTube channel, I felt passionate about this blog. I’m not shy at taking risks (sometimes to a fault), and when I put my mind to something, I do it. So, even if (at the time), my blog sucked (which it did), I still created it, and there was still a time in my life where it served a purpose.

I’m big on story-telling and always have been, so prepare for this blog to be filled with stories about my life, and those who inspire me. This goes hand-in-hand with my love for writing, a big driver in what made me realize that starting a blog was too perfect for me.

And even though I’m so ready to start this blog and have people finally see it, I was scared for a long time. Guys, I’m going to be real with you: I’ve almost re-started this about a hundred times, but there was always this fear within me that told me I didn’t have anything worthy enough to say. I feared that no one would read my posts, like my content, or like me. So, that led to me putting this off for a while. A long while.

BUT. Here’s my hope. I hope that this blog will inspire and encourage others. I hope that I can be as authentically “me” as possible. I hope that this new chapter in my life will be as life-giving and fun for me as it is for you reading.

And this is where we come full-circle. This first post will be launching May 1st, 2019 (today, yay!). Almost four years ago, I sat in my bedroom with *sort-of* the same hopes and dreams for this blog, but now they’re bigger and better, and more me. This time, I don’t feel as obligated to be like other bloggers. This time I’m just Clare. This blog is going to be fun, yet vulnerable, and mixed with all aspects of my life. I believe everyone will be able to find something they can relate to here.

So what exactly will my posts be about? Technically, this blog is a lifestyle blog. That means I’ll be posting about fashion, home decor, beauty, wellbeing, shopping, travel, food, Jesus, etc. My blog might also include random posts where I just talk to you about what’s going on in my life as well.

I’m so excited for this to finally be out there for all of you to read, and I promise you that you won’t want to miss my posts (or at least, I hope you won’t). Please leave comments for me down below telling me a bit about yourself so I can get to know you, follow me on Instagram and tell me that way, or show love by sharing it. Also, don’t forget to sign up for my email list! You’ll receive emails about when I post new content.

Here’s to new beginnings!

Yours truly, Clare
